We Make Movies is a dedicated and generous community as well as a full-service movie studio. We can help you with screenwriting, casting, storyboarding, camera people, equipment, sound, editing, production management, and so much more. All you have to do is bring your A-Game and say "I'm ready!".

Yes, absolutely. There are ups and downs for almost everyone, and it is during the quiet times that we have to stay creative. WMM is a place to try out new ideas, to make high quality work at a low price, and also a great place to find new talent. [this needs a lot more work...]

The WMM Smartphone Studio is a hands-on workshop where we visit schools and communities to teach students how to write, produce, film, direct and create movies on IPhones. We provide the gear, do the training train them, teach storytelling, and impart students with transferable skills that they can immediately use to make paid social media and branded content within their community that is in high demand by local businesses.  Also, when you become a member, you get access to the digital version of this.  We’re also happy to offer online interactive workshops over Zoom.

We Make Movies is about You Making Movies. We are the DIY film community that have your back. We started in 2009, hundreds of short films, Features, pilots, web series, and everything else you can think of have come out of this group  We also provide production services to over 300 movies every year. We have started We Make Movies chapters and Smartphone Studio communities all over the country and our We Make Movies International Festival brings movies from around the world both within and outside our own community.  Come be a part of it.

You are not alone!  It started in LA where we have had a regular weekly workshop for nearly a decade for our members.  We’d love to help you start a community where you are too.  It’s fun, easy, and a great way to make friends and meet people.  We’re also connecting up people from all over the world to share their content, skills, and knowledge online.  Start finding your team, connecting your network, and building your audience with our social media education and  and audience building tools and partnerships.

If you’re in a city with a live chapter, come participate in our Writers Workshop (and other weekly events).  It is a place to test out your new script and hear it read by actors in front of a live audience. This is a breakthrough moment for so many writers, and something that is not easily achieved when you write at home. We provide the space, we provide the audience, we cast the actors and we even provide snacks and drinks. Our members love it. We even have virtual Writers Workshops that are available to join via Zoom. Come get involved and find a way to get your project off the ground

These workshops will take submissions for scripts that are in the pre-production phase and very near the shoot phase. Scripts submitted to the queue will be prioritized based on which projects are closest to their shoot dates.

Almost. We will pay your production costs!! We are funded by our membership costs. Every year we cover our costs and then give the rest of the money back to the members! The community votes and our annual contest gives away cash prizes to members to make their films. Epic!!!

Our monthly Performance Nights are a great opportunity to test out new material in front a live audience. It is strictly off-book so we get that authentic live performance feeling, and people will often bring the cast of their film in to perform right before the shoot. You can also test out new monologues, stand-up routines, songs...we are your community and you create the journey.

Yes. Our membership money goes back into our community and gets people paid.  We pay our own membership to make the content that goes on our site, which is why all of our content is so unique and awesome.  When you become a member, you become eligible to be paid by WMM to make content too. So if you have a great idea, especially in how to teach someone something awesome about how to make content, let us know, and your membership might pay for itself.
